Sports Scouts from Denmark and the United States of America will be jetting into the country in July 2023 to recruit young talents for full sponsored scholarships for training abroad.
Scouts from Young Boys Academy of Denmark are expected to arrive in Tanzania early July, ready for the Talent Showcase event scheduled to take place in Arusha on June 8 and 9 for the first phase of the exercise.
They will be working with the Future Stars Academy of Arusha in identifying the talented Young Tanzanian soccer players.
“The Young Boys Academy of Denmark targets to recruit young Tanzanian footballers aged between 11 and 12 years old, currently in Form Four grade of Secondary School and planning to join high schools next year,” explained the Director of Future Stars, Alfred Itaeli.
According to Itaeli, the exercise will take place at the Arusha Campus of the United World College (UWC) East Africa in the first week of July.
“The recruitment runs under the theme of ‘In cooperating Sports and Education.” He said
More than 100 young footballers in Arusha are expected to attend the Talent Showcase in Arusha on July 8 and 9.
Selected ones will be fully sponsored into English Medium Schools overseas and the package covers education that is school fees, boarding and hostel as well as training sessions in sports.
They will be taken for incubation in what is termed as 10,000 hours to build a young player. The successful ones will fly to Denmark and the United States.
“Denmark wants to invest heavily in the future of sporting activities and now they are selecting promising youth to be built into reliable footballers,” said Alfred.
Itaeli explained that, the boys who succeed in the tests, will enjoy two special privileges, specialized training in education and sports
On the other hand, the USA scholarships are for the older boys, aged between 17 and 19 who have completed Secondary and ready to join colleges or universities
For older ones the recruitment will totally depend on individual talents and capabilities.
After the Arusha sessions the talent scouts from U.S and Denmark will head to other regions on the mainland starting with Dar-es-salaam and later on elsewhere.
The final selection of the ultimate teams will take place in Arusha September 2023
It is expected that between 16 and 20 young football players from Tanzania will be recruited during the final selection.
