Covid-19 erupts again. The now not-so-novel coronavirus once more rears up its ugly head
It is exactly two years since the maiden Covid-19 contagion was officially reported in the country and now another wave is making scene. Tanzanians have been alerted to start taking caution against the new infections.
Speaking during the special National Television interview held to mark the occasion of celebrating her one year in office, President Samia Suluhu Hassan pointed out that, new Corona cases are already being reported in the Far-East.
That is precisely China where coincidentally also, it is where the first corona infections surfaced in late 2019 and early 2020.
“I have received reports that the new Covid-19 wave has started in Shanghai, this will soon spread here and it is high time people started taking precautions,” the Head of State cautioned.
Tanzania recently received more batch of Covid-19 Vaccines that the state has been administering free of charge in all local medical service outlets.
The country of nearly 60 million residents, Tanzania is among those states that recorded fewer corona cases in the last two years.
From March 16, the Shanghai City of China reported eight locally transmitted new COVID-19 cases, 150 local asymptomatic infections, 15 imported patients and six imported an asymptomatic cases.
That is according to the data released by the Shanghai Health Commission.
Out of all the local infections, one confirmed patient and 69 asymptomatic cases were detected during central quarantine, while the rest were found in the screening of high-risk people.
The development comes at the time when the world was reopening up again and relaxing precatory measures.
