National Rally Championship: Gurpal Sandhu’s Mitsubishi in Defense of Crown

The National Rally Champion, Gurpal Sandhu drives his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 in the ongoing Guru Nanak Motor Rally of Arusha to defend the coveted crown.

The Country’s Rally czar maintains his long term navigator, Dave Sihoka from Zambia, with whom he won the Iringa rally last May.

They drive in the Mitsubishi vehicle with the Number 1 badge on the door.

Gurpal Sandhu is currently the overall 2021-2022 National Rally Championship Crown holder in Tanzania.

Sandhu is confident of winning this Fifth round of the Tanzania National Rally Championship, involving 13 cars.

“I am fully prepared to tackle the terrains and emerge the winner, defending the National Rally Championship,” he maintains.

Also for the first time the motor sporting event, staged in Monduli District is deploying a satellite-based radio navigation timing system.

Gurpal Sandhu lauds organizers for introducing this modern method of navigation as it will ensure live, faster and reliable results.

But what about his trusty Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10? Imported it from Japan ten years ago but it has already undergone some important upgrading.

It is the same machine which has been racing Sandhu ahead of the packs to the finishing lines in a number of motor rally competitions.

When it comes to motor sports in Tanzania, however it is usually Subaru and Mitsubishi cars that dominate lineups.

In this Rally there are three Mitsubishi Lancers, Nine Subaru Impreza and the one and only MG Metro.

The MG Metro is driven by Gurtaj Bhogal and Navigator Prabjot Kalsi is an odd machine in the sea of Subarus and Mitsubishis,
