Zambia Bus Starts New Route Connecting Lusaka to Dar-es-Salaam

Is there a good bus traveling between Dar-es-salaam and Lusaka? Yes. At least the Royal Africa Luxury Bus is now adding another Zambia to Tanzania route, this October 2022.

The Bus Company, Royal Africa Logistics already operates passenger services between Kitwe, in North-eastern Zambia and Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania’s commercial and biggest city.

Which means the company will now run two routes, Dar to Kitwe and Dar to Lusaka with different buses.

In June 2022, Royal Africa Logistics commissioned the monstrous Irizar i6 and i7 Luxury Coaches, powered by Scania Drivetrain, for the Kitwe to Dar Route, plying once a week.

Four months down the line and the Dar-Kitwe route proves successful, despite the mixed reactions that arose when the Zambia buses started plying between the two countries in June 2022.

Now Royal Africa adds another route and of course two more buses to serve the new Dar-Lusaka route.

If the company’s newly purchased equipment is anything to go by, then chances are the Lusaka to Dar-es-salaam route will be served by Marcopolo Andare FL buses also powered by Scania.

Royal Logistics recently acquired the new buses from South Africa.

Stretching over 1,960 kilometres’ distance, the Dar to Lusaka journey by road is not exactly an adventure for the faint-hearted.

That is an additional of nearly 100 kilometres, when measured against the existing Dar to Kitwe journey (1,893 Kilometres) which the Royal Africa Buses currently serve.

In Dar-es-salaam, the Buses from Zambia usually dock at the Magufuli Bus Terminal in Mbezi Luis part of the city.

Royal Africa also resumes the Lusaka to Johannesburg bus services, which means travellers from Tanzania can now connect to South Africa on a single arrangement.
