Arusha hosts this year’s Tanzania Darts Championship from 25 to 27, August 2023 as the country works to outfit special team for the forthcoming Uganda Open Championships in Kampala.
The event to be staged at the halls located on the Magereza grounds of Kisongo, is organized under the Tanzania Darts Association and thus known as TADA Cup 2023.
The Tanzania Darts Association’s General Secretary, Joseph Innocent explained that the TADA Cup features individual teams from across the country that will be competing in order to come up with the overall National Champions.
“This TADA Cup staged in Arusha is in preparation for the forthcoming Uganda Open Darts Championships in Kampala, September 2023,” said Innocent, adding that the only challenge facing the event is lack of sponsorship.
“This is because darts events are yet to gain roots in the country,” he stated.
On his part, the Secretary of the Arusha Regional Darts Association (ARDA) Yohana Guliku says for many years the national darts leagues were being staged in Dodoma.
“This year, Arusha sent a proposal to host the event and has been granted the request,” Guliku explained, adding the region has been at forefront in promoting darts games in the country.
According to the ARDA secretary, a total of 10 clubs from Arusha Region alone will be participating in the National darts competition.
It is also expected that all the other mainland regions of Tanzania will be sending their teams to Arusha for the anticipated TADA Cup 2023, set to be one of the biggest sporting events in the region this year.
So far, a number of Darts clubs from Tanga, Mara, Mbeya, Mwanza, Dodoma, Manyara, Morogoro, Kilimanjaro and Dar-es-salaam have confirmed their participation.
The TADA Cup events of August 2023 in Arusha, will feature single, double and team games, with winners set to get monetary prizes, cups and trophies for both men and women teams.
