The Kilimanjaro Regional Administrative Secretary, Tixon Tuyangine Nzunda has been killed in a tragic road accident.

Regional Administrative Secretary Tixon, according to reports, was involved in the crash on June 18, 2024.

The road accident which occurred in the Hai District of Kilimanjaro, also claimed the life of the car driver, Alphonce Edison.

Police reports say it was a head-on collision between the Regional Administrative Secretary car and a Scania Truck believed to belong to ‘Orange Gas,’ supplying company.

The Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner, Nurdin Babu has confirmed the death of his deputy.

Tixon is the second Regional Administrative Secretary to die in a tragic road accident in the Northern Zone.

In February 2021, the  then Arusha Regional Administrative Secretary, Richard Kwitega perished in a road accident when his government vehicle rammed onto an oncoming bus in rural parts of Babati District as he was travelling to Dodoma.

In another accident which occurred in Arusha, June 18, 2024, a cargo train which was travelling between Arusha and Dar-es-salaam derailed at the Moshono area in the outskirts of Arusha City.

The Arusha Urban District Commissioner, Felician Mtahengerwa who went to the scene said there have been no injuries in the accident.

It is not often that trains travel to Arusha. Observers believe that due to the fact that tracks are rarely used, sometimes the rails go without checking or maintenance for several months.
