And this year again Tanzania happens to be among the 180 countries from all over the world, participating at the annual International Tourism Trade Fair in Berlin (ITB) Germany.

Known as the ‘Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin, the ITB is the world’s largest tourism trade fair taking place in the European Country every year.

Unforgettable?

The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) is leading the country delegation to Germany.

“International Trade Fairs are important platforms that we normally use to promote Tanzania and market our country’s many attractions,” the Director General of TTB, Damas Mfugale points out.

Other institutions and firms from Dar, participating in the Germany held Trade Fair include the Air Tanzania Corporation (ATC), Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA).

The country’s presence is certainly being felt at ITB in Berlin

There are other 60 tourism and hospitality firms from the Tanzanian Private Sector at the ITB 2023.

The ITB Berlin takes place annually in March at the Messe Berlin. Firms being represented at the fair include hotels, tourist boards, tour operators, system providers, airlines and car rental companies.

Dr Abdallah Possi is the Tanzanian envoy to Germany who explains that the embassy uses all opportunities available to promote Tanzania not only there, but also in other countries they represent in Europe, including Poland, Austia and the Czech Republic.

On his part the Zanzibar’s Minister for Tourism and Heritage, Simai Mohamed Said, lauded the efforts being exerted by the Tanzania Tourist Board and the Isles Commission of Tourism in not only marketing their destinations but also supporting other firms to participate in the international events.

Tanzania receives an average of 1.5 million tourists in a year. However, the country targets to triple this figure to more than 5 million foreign visitors by the year 2025.

While the mainland’s best attractions are wildlife-oriented destinations such as National Parks, Game Reserves and Conservation Areas, the Isles seem to be heavily investing in beach tourism and ancient monuments and historical sites.

Regarding the ITB 2023

“By positioning ITB Berlin exclusively as a B2B product we want to make the format future-proof and further significantly enhance the brand as a global catalyst of the tourism industry. At the same time we are making sure to give our image a necessary boost and improve our existing ties and ability to attract new customers. In the past we have repeatedly observed that the majority of our exhibitors place a clear emphasis on addressing B2B audiences. In future, this move will make it possible to further concentrate their efforts.”
