A total of 14 young football players who qualified from the Arusha-held East African Youth Soccer tourney, will be departing for Spain to take part in the Donosti Cup.
The forthcoming Donosti Cup, is an International Football tournament usually taking place in Spain and set to take place at San Sebastian this July 2025.
The 19 sports envoys from Chipkizi Cup of Arusha, comprising 14 players and five officials, are flying from Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) on the 6th of July 2025.
The 14 football candidates were selected from the 27 young footballers that qualified with flying colors during the Arusha-held East African Youth Soccer tourney, known as the Chipkizi Cup, organized by the Future Stars Academy (FSA) last December 2024.
“They are going to participate in the Under-16 category,” explained the Future Stars Coach and Chipkizi Cup Coordinator, Peter Tito, adding that more than 900 teams from 30 countries around the world will participate in Spain’s Donosti Cup taking place from July 7th to 13th, 2025.
More than 15,000 participants from around the world are taking part in the Spanish football event this July 2025.
Spain is currently the global benchmark of International Soccer competition and therefore if the local players can match the Spanish standards, it will be a catalyst for improved games in Tanzania and East Africa.
The outstanding sports candidates were placed at the two days’ trial camp at the Arusha Modern School, located in the Sakina, Azimio section of Arusha City, in preparation for the Spain tournament.
“We hope that, after showcasing their talents in Europe, this summer, the young players from Chipkizi Cup may even attract the attention from talents scouts from big clubs abroad and recruited to join them or be enrolled in international academies,” said Tito, the coordinator.
Meanwhile the next season of the East African Soccer Tourney, the Chipkizi Cup 2025 is expected to come up in Arusha City from the 15th to the 21st of December 2025, involving teams from all the Eastern African Countries.
