Wolves invade Songwe Airport. Locals describe case as witchcraft meeting aircraft

Could it be Magic?

Packs of strange wolves are reported to be wreaking havoc at the Songwe Airport in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania, by blocking runaways and threatening staff at terminal and scaring pilots.

The management of the airport located in Mbeya District, reports that the jackals that infiltrate the terminal grounds on a regular basis are threatening the people who work at the new airport.

The wildlife species are also feared to be jeopardizing the landing and take-off of aircraft that use the airport, as they usually appear out of nowhere and run across the taxiway, unexpectedly, which could

Mbeya District Commissioner, Benno Malisa stated recently that there have been efforts to rid the coyotes from the terminal grounds but without success, as they keep on appearing and disappearing mysteriously.

Songwe Airport Manager Paschal Kalumbete, explained that whenever they summon wildlife officers to the terminal, the animals would suddenly disappear only to emerge later when the wardens have already left.

“The local people say the wolves usually infest the area during harvest time, but didn’t explain why,” said the Manager.

However, most residents of nearby villages believe the wolves are the works of witchcraft and black magic, being elusive, strange and with a tendency of emerging at their own convenient time.

In other words, the Mbeya wolves could actually be even werewolves.

Previously a number of airlines used to run regular services at Songwe, among them the state carrier, Air Tanzania, Tropical Air, Auric Air, Fastjet Tanzania, and Precision Air.
