Where is President Paul Kagame of Rwanda?

It has been more than two weeks now since the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame left his country traveling to Europe for what is being reported as to attend medical treatment.

But since then, no official statement has been released to reassure the people of Rwanda about their leader’s health condition.

Some say he is in Germany, others Belgium, but all agree that Kagame is not in Rwanda.

That has left a series of rumors and speculations circulating on social media, some claiming Paul Kagame is under serious health condition with others even insinuating that the Rwandan President could be dead.

However, they all boil down to one single question, ‘Where is Paul Kagame?’ as people demand to know the president’s whereabouts.

While the type of the disease which Kagame is claimed to be suffering from has not yet been revealed, what is certain is that the Head of State’s health is of major concern, despite the silence observed by the Rwandan government on the matter.

Kagame has always been active on his social media accounts, especially Twitter (X) and Facebook.

Though it may not necessarily be the President himself who used to post the updates, the last time something new was shared on his verified Facebook account was on the 6th of June 2025.

President Paul Kagame was meeting with a delegation from the Hope Haven Christian School, led by its Founder and President, Hollern Susan.

“Thank you – for doing what our country and our people needed. When we began this journey, there was an urgent need for people to have access to education.  That need has not gone away. Education never stops being important,” wrote the Rwandan leader.

“I remember my own beginnings. As a young boy in a refugee camp, we studied under trees … We used our thighs as notebooks and dry pieces of grass as pens … … That gave us a good start. It was difficult – but we knew it was the right thing to do. Even in those harsh conditions, we understood the value of learning …

… Later, during the struggle to liberate our country, we found ourselves once again in a different kind of school – this time, in the forests. We were still learning. Every step of that journey was a lesson. The mission to liberate our country was, in many ways, a mission to discover the truth – about ourselves, our people, and our responsibilities …!” Kagame concluded.

A photo of President Kagame with members of the school was also shared. And that was the last thing to appear on his digital space.
