‘What we did this summer!’ Chem Chem Lodge reveals secret behind World Travel Awards 2025 win
Combining Conservation, Culture and responsible Tourism, the Chem Chem Safari Lodge, mapped within the vast wilderness of Babati District of Manyara, in Northern Tanzania reveals the secret of their recently won two World Travel Awards.
Chem Chem was crowned Africa leading luxury safari lodge 2025 during the recently held World Tourism Award (WTA) Gala Ceremony for Africa and the Indian Ocean winners, an event which was held in Dar-es-salaam City.

“At Chem Chem hospitality goes beyond luxury accommodation and spellbinding scenery, top notch service and responsibility towards the surrounding community is what makes the Safari Lodge stand out among the rest,” explained Jorg Weytjens the General Manager.
Other than the continental award, Chem Chem was also presented with a WTA trophy as the Tanzania Leading Luxury Safari Lodge.
The Babati District Commissioner, Emmanuella Kaganda Mtatifikolo pointed out that, the Chem Chem Lodge management has been at forefront in conservation programs in the area, something which can be attested by the increasing number of wildlife species.
“It is good that the lodge is cooperating with the local government as well as other community based conservation entities such as the Burunge Wildlife Management Area (WMA),” the District Commissioner.
Managing 20,000 hectares, that is 50,000 acres of unfenced natural wilderness, the Chem Chem Safari Lodge is perched within the vast virgin landscape linking Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks.
According to the management, Chem Chem is not only committed to preserve the Tarangire-Manyara Ecosystem, but also contribute to the social and economic development of the villages that surround the wildlife corridor.
Lodge Manager, Elizabeth Wambui added that, the success of Chem Chem can be attributed to the good relations that they have cultivated with members of the local community, especially in working together to ensure the entire are is well protected.
On his part, the Chem Chem Chef, Jimmy Ngira reminded that, food is an important component in the hospitality industry and that the Lodge also does extremely well in this sector to impress any gourmet.
“That is why last year the Chem Chem Lodge was named named the winner of ‘Best Safari Cuisine in Africa’” the Chef maintained.
It was all awards for the entities within the entire eco-system because the Tarangire National Park just next-door to Chem Chem, was also declared Africa’s leading Elephant Paradise National Park in 2025 at the World Travel Awards.
This year the World Travel Award (WTA) has included the new voting category, the maiden Africa’s Leading Elephant Paradise National Park 2025. This is the first time that Tarangire wins the WTA award.
Tarangire competed against the Addo Elephant National Park of South Africa, the Amboseli National Park in Kenya and Hwange National Park of Zimbabwe, with the Tanzanian Park emerging the overall winner.
Tanzania, which hosted the awards gala ceremony for the first time, emerged Africa’s leading safari destination, with the country raking more than 11 accolades in total.
