Elephant chases former Nigerian President’s assistant, who was touring Tarangire

Reno Omokri a West African influencer who used to serve as Special Assistant to the former President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan, was chased by an elephant in the Tarangire National Park.

Omokri, an author and lobbyist who is currently working to promote awareness for Africans to travel within Africa, is currently touring Tanzania and has had some exhilarating adventures in the Tarangire.

Reno Omokri wrote on his social media platforms that he got chased by a giant, trumpeting elephant, in the Tarangire, the National Park, which he visited during his tour of Northern Tanzania.

The elephant allegedly pursued the Nigerian influencer near the camp where he was lodged in the park.

And that was shortly after Reno Omokri posted a ‘live’ episode involving a lion which had pursued and killed a giraffe in Tarangire, remarking that it was the most strange and dramatic thing he had ever seen in his life.

A View to a Kill :Omokri witnessed a lion killing a giraffe and feasting on it in Tarangire

Then he later reported to have escaped by whiskers when a jumbo tried to attack him near his lodge.

“I got chased by an elephant,” Omokri said.

Obi-dients would have celebrated today,” he added with a smirk.

In Nigeria ‘OBIdients’ are voluntary followers of the political ideology of Peter Gregory Obi, the former Governor (extraordinaire) of the Anambra State and a businessman who ran for president in 2019 and 2023.

Omokri, hence meant that, if the elephant in Tarangire had killed him, then the followers or fans of Gregory Obi would have been very happy to an extent of throwing a party.

That evoked angry responses from Nigerians who were following his journey into Tarangire.

Upon hearing about Omokri’s escapades with Tarangire Jumbos, mixed with his political sneer, fellow Nigerians kept scoffing at him online.

Benedict Emeh for instance, commented that, “Elephants are very sensible creatures. They only chase or attack people who are not genuine as the Jumbos hate double-faced individuals!”

On his part, another Nigerian, Ahmad Uthman told him that “The elephant was coming to welcome you into Tanzania. It didn’t mean any harm!”

But Cletus Reuben Nweda believes that if the animal had killed Reno, it would have solved one of the problems facing Nigeria.

However, Paul Godspower Okpure, who had the full video of the situation begged to differ, saying the elephant was simply crossing the road to the other side of Tarangire wilderness and not chasing the influencer as he claims.

The hate in the comments were overwhelming; Michael Chukwudi wrote, “The elephant knows how evil and hypocritical you are…Nature is acting against you!”

Aside from the negative responses from fellow countrymen, other people worldwide praised Omokri’s efforts to promote travel destinations and domestic tourism in Africa.
