Tanzanians and other East African Nationals can now apply for Canadian University Scholarships
The Canadian Confederation and Saint Francis Xavier University are launching the scholarships for African students for the academic year 2025-2026.
An official release from the Secretary of the University of Saint Francis Xavier, indicates that the institution of higher learning has just opened an application window for the said scholarships.
Located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada the Saint Francis Xavier University is a public undergraduate liberal arts university.
The institution is a member of the Maple League, a group of primarily undergraduate universities in Eastern Canada.
These scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year are intended for nationals of developing countries, third world countries and European countries.
Tanzanians, Kenyans, Ugandans and other East African nationals qualify for the applications as well as those that come from other parts of the African continent.
The scholarships cover the period of a training cycle of up to six semesters and the related travel expenses.
This include the fares for the round-trip plane ticket, through the Pays de Provence-Canada, which should be the responsibility of the Canadian Confederation.
Saint Francis Xavier University (StFX) usually offers scholarships to students of Indigenous and African Nova Scotia descent thanks to support from the Jeannine Deveau Educational Equity Endowment.
Deveau, a StFX graduate from 1944, created the endowment to help remove financial barriers that typically prevent students from minority or racialized populations from accessing post-secondary education.
According to the statement from the Saint Francis Xavier University in Canada, the prerequisite for the application is for candidates aged between 18 years and 55 years.
However, the candidates to be selected should also be able to speak fluently and understand any of the following languages, that is English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
The five languages happen to be the medium of instruction in Canada.
St. Francis Xavier offers over USD 2 million annually in merit-based scholarships and financial aid to its new and current undergraduates.
Applicants with a Grade 12 average of at least 85 percent are automatically guaranteed an entrance scholarship worth at least USD 5,000 (USD 1,250 each year for four years), and at least USD 7,000 for those with Grade 12 averages above 90 percent or USD 1,750 each year for four years.
This year’s scholarships should be applied via the email address:
