Tanzanian lady elected Wellingborough Victoria Ward councillor via U.K Conservative Party

Tanzanian born Faith Hewitt Kapilima has been elected as the councillor for the Victoria Ward of Wellingborough City Council​.

​Faith, who lives and works in the United Kingdom, won the seat through the ​UK Conservative Party in Wellingborough.

“I am glad to be elected as a Wellingborough-Victoria Councillor through the Conservative Party,” says Ms Faith Kapilima who is an accountant by profession, upon winning the post.

She however points out that the race was tough and unpredictable.

“But I thank God and my Wellingborough Conservative Party for their support,” added Councillor Kapilima.

Faith also goes on to reveal that she is a single parent; “I am a single Mum and accountant!” She declared.

 According to Ms Kapilima, most people used to think that she was practicing law. The new UK councillor’s roots originate from Songea, in the Ruvuma Region of Tanzania.

“But I am an accountant and business owner who is also doing politics,” she reveals.

As far as Faith is concerned however, the mission is not easy but worth it.

“I am looking forward to listening to the people and supporting the community,” councillor Kapilima concludes.

Her friends describe Faith as being ‘a true daughter of the Ngoni tribe (a community native to Southern Tanzania) and that she has been an inspiration to them all.

The new councillor wants to advocate for the rights and services of children with disabilities as well as push​ing for basic community services in her prefecture.
