Shortly after participating in the Uganda Open, and emerging in the top positions, ace players from Arusha are bracing up for the Tanzania Ladies Open coming up in the city from September 13, 2024.
The Tanzania Ladies open is being staged in Arusha at the Gymkhana Club Golf Course for three consecutive days, between September 13 and 15.
Various countries will be participating in the Tanzania Golf Open to be played on a 54-hole course.
The four Best Tanzanian lady golfers, Madina Idd, Neema Olomi and Aalaa Somji from Arusha and Hawa Wanyeche from Dar-Es-salaam performed very well in the just ended Uganda Ladies Golf Open.
Madina Idd from Arusha emerged the overall winner in the Kampala golfing event which attracted players from various countries including Ghana, Korea, Tanzania and the host Uganda.
“Participants from Tanzania also dominated the top four slots in the Ugandan Golf tourney,” said Madina.
On her part, Aalaa Somji a self-trained player who was the fifth overall gross winner in the Uganda Open said there is a need for more focus on concentration among Tanzanian players as well as hiring expert lawyers.
Aalaa, being supported by Tanfoam Limited the leading manufacturer and marketer of mattresses and related products in East Africa, will be also participating in another forthcoming Kenya Ladies Open afterwards said she need to participate in as many golf tourneys as possible to garner more experience in the sport.
Kassim Somji the Chairperson of Arusha Gymkhana Club said they will recognize the local players for winning in the top five slots of the Uganda Open.
“We are actually encouraging more ladies to participate in golf events, as they have potential” said Somji.
The Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) Vice Chairperson, Prudence Kaijage lauded the ace golfers for keeping the country flag afloat in international events, adding they were expecting more victories from them.
