Italian And Zambian Drivers Gear for Tanzania Atlantic Rally in Arusha

When it comes to Motor Rally Events, it is usually Kenyan and Ugandan drivers who burn gasoline on Tanzanian terrains, but this time motorists from Italy and Zambia are here to try and change the game.

The Tanzania Atlantic Rally, spins the wheels in the country from 22 July to 24 July, 2022, with over 35 drivers pedalling their crafts.

The FIA African Rally Championship event gets staged in Arusha the first major motor sporting activity in the Northern Zone this year.

Normally it is Mitsubishi and Subaru cars that dominate rallies in Tanzania, however this time, the concentration of the two Japanese models have been made lighter with increased number of Ford cars.

Subaru still has an upper hand in the Tanzania Atlantic Rally 2022. The number of Imprezzas is rather Impressing, there are 14 such models in thge ARC.

Mitsubishi, on the other hand, is also fielding a considerable number of vehicles, with a total of 12 Lancer Evolutions warming up for the show.

Last year, during the Guru Nanak Rally in Arusha, a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX, won the race.

However in the African Rally Championship event this year, we get eight, yes 8, Ford cars, in the entry list. They are also out to unseat the Japanese trademarks from their usual winning.

But again there is that one odd ‘Skoda Proto,’ courtesy of the Hari Singh Rally team racing against the old time giants.

All the same, even as drivers from Italy, Zambia and Burundi makes scene in the Tanzanian Rally event, the usual veterans from Kenya and Uganda are returning to mark territory alongside the Tanzanian wheel spinners.
