Tanzania beats South Africa in Population growth, Ranking Number 5 on the continent and 22 globally.

Latest Prognosis indicates that Tanzania’s population is bulging with the country beating South-Africa which is much larger in both geographical size and economy.

South Africa measures 1,221,037 square kilometers and has a population of 60.5 million as per the United Nations 2023 estimation.

On the other hand, Tanzania, measuring 947,303 square kilometers has its population scale clocking at over 67 million mark.

According to the most recent United Nations projections, the current population of the entire African Continent should be 1,463,378,937 as per the latest estimations of August 2023.

The continent has finally beaten China, which now has a population of 1.43 billion people.

From the same figures, the total population of Africa makes up 17.9 percent of the entire global count.

The UN Projection indicates that the largest population growth is being experienced between 2022 and 2050.

The increase in population is also projected to come from a few countries in the Sub-Saharan African region.

The top five, most populous African countries at the moment include Nigeria, which leads the continent with a population of 224.3 million and is ranked at number 6 globally.

Ethiopia comes second in Africa with its population 126.9 million, ranking at number 11 in the world.

Egypt takes the third position in Africa’s most populous countries, with a total of 112.9 million residents, taking number 14 globally.

The Democratic Republic of Congo is the fourth most populous country in Africa with 102.6 million people within its borders, taking the 15^th position in the world.

Tanzania ranks at number 5 on the continent with the UN estimated population of 67.6 million and being placed at number 22 globally.

Tanzania beats South Africa, which has a total of 60.5 million people at Number 6 on the continent.

It also beats its other East African neighbor, Kenya at number 7 and whose current population is estimated to be 55.2 million residents.

Uganda with a population of 48.7 million residents takes position number 8 on the continent, while Sudan with 48.2 residents is at number Nine.

Closing the top-ten listing in Africa is Algeria which has an estimated population of 45.7 million residents and taking the tenth position on the continent.

That is despite the fact that Algeria is the largest country on the continent measuring 2,381,741 square kilometers, though of course, most of it is desert.

The global population is being predicted to reach 8.5 billion people by 2030.

The number will grow to 9.7 billion by 2050, and 10.4 billion by 2080, where it is expected to stay until 2100, according to the United Nations’ 2022 World Population Prospects report.

It is estimated that a total of 140 million infants are born each year around the world.

More than half of the world’s predicted population expansion between 2023 and 2050 will come from just eight nations, these are the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Tanzania.

Apparently five of them happen to be African countries.
