Arusha rides on soccer teams from Monduli district in the region’s journey into Premier League 2024

Monduli has been named the district which gets to save the Arusha Region as far as football is concerned.

The District Commissioner, Joshua Nassari pointed out that Monduli has two teams both playing in the NBC Championships, vying to get into the National Premier League.

“We have the TMA Stars, football club and Mbuni Soccer Club, both from Monduli and they are all ranked high in the championships,” revealed DC Nassari, adding that it was high time people, institutions and other organizations in Arusha started supporting the two clubs.

Joshua Nassari is hopeful that next year, the premier league matches will be played in Arusha once the local teams get to upgrade into the top national football fixture.

“All is needed at the moment is ample support from sports stakeholders in the region,” he says.

The Tanzania Military Academy (TMA) Stars, which is the army team from Monduli, is currently ranked at number 2 in the ongoing NBC Championships league.

It just beaten the Green Warriors FC of Dar-es-salaam 1-0 during their latest game played away in the city.

Until now, the TMA Stars have played eight matches and lost none and hold the second position in the Championships.

The team so far has gathered 18 points, in the Championships, this is just a single point below the Kengold FC from Mbeya which leads the league in the first slot with 19 points.

Mbeya Kwanza, the second team from Mbeya and which has 17 points, is ranked third in the league.

Pamba FC from Mwanza, with 15 points is holding the fourth position in the Champions League.

The Mbuni Football Club from Monduli, Arusha is slotted at number 5 in the ongoing league with 14 points, which means Arusha has two teams in the top-five listing of the NBC Championships in Tanzania.

Both TMA and Mbuni are still playing on the ‘Away’ basis, and this November 2023, Mbuni gets to face Green Warriors in Dar-es-salaam, while TMA Stars also plays in the city against Transit Camp FC.
