Kenya Airways Hatch Interline Partnership with Emirates

Kenya’s National Carrier has inked a pact with the Emirates Airline through which the two companies get to share their routes’ network for seamless connection.

Kenya Airways and Emirates Airlines have both reported to have formed an interline partnership, allowing passengers to enjoy enhanced travel options.

The agreement enables individuals traveling from Nairobi and Mombasa to access Emirates’ extensive network, connecting them to 23 destinations via Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, which acts as a portal to that effect.

Conversely, Emirates customers will now gain the opportunity to fly to 28 destinations on the Kenya Airways network using Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as the gateway.

This partnership strengthens the two airlines’ positions in the industry, expands their global reach, and offers passengers improved connectivity and streamlined travel experiences in the process.

The collaboration is expected to foster closer ties between the two airlines and provide travellers with greater flexibility and access to a wider range of destinations.

Kenya Airways Limited which is more commonly known as Kenya Airways is the flag carrier airline of Kenya.

The Airline was established in 1977, shortly after the disbanding of the former East African Airways, which Kenya shared with Uganda and Tanzania through their maiden East African Community.

The Royal Dutch Airline (KLM) now owns a 7.8 percent stake in the Kenya Airways Company Limited.

In fact it was KLM which sponsored Kenya Airways’ SkyTeam candidacy process in 2005.

Kenya Airways eventually became one of the first official SkyTeam Associate Airlines in September 2007.

The airline achieved full membership in June 2010 and now the alliance provides Kenya Airways’ passengers with access to the member airlines’ worldwide network and passenger facilities.

The airline owns a stake in Tanzania’s Precision-Air, whose founder, Michael Shrima passed away recently.

On the other hand, the Emirates, or Al-Imārāt, which is based in Garhoud, Dubai, is one of two flag carriers of the United Arab Emirates. UAE also owns the Etihad Airways.

Emirates Airline is a subsidiary of the Emirates Group, which is owned by the government of Dubai’s Investment Corporation. It is one of the largest airlines in the Middle East, operating over 3,600 flights per week from its hub at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport.
