Garv Chadha: Arusha Teenager Teeing off to new heights in Golf

Golf seems to be in the blood for Young Garv Chadha.

Teeing to new heights, the 17-year-old golfer was recently again declared the Arusha Gymkhana Club Golf Match-Play Champion 2021.

The teenage student also swept the overall Arusha Gymkhana Club’s Seasonal Order of Merit accolade.

The AGC Golf Club Order of Merit is used to identify and give recognition to the top-performing amateur and junior golfers who have recorded great success during a particular Golf season.

So, Garv Chadha, was crowned the Double Title Golfer of the Year 2020 and Match Play 2021 Champion, ranked highest among 113 golfers that participated in the Golf Championship on league basis, whereas the top 30 players qualify for the Match Play knock-out phase.

Trophies for the AGC Johnnie Walker Order of Merit 2020 and Match-Play 2021 winner and runner-up were presented to the top golfers at the Gymkhana Club of Arusha, over the weekend.

Thus it was a double victory for young Garv Chadha the Johnnie Walker Match Play 2021 Champion, who has also been named the ‘Double Title Golfer of the Year 2020 as well is the official winner of Arusha Gymkhana Club’s Johnnie Walker-Order of Merit 2020.

“I am grateful to my family, because without them these achievements wouldn’t have been possible,” said Garv, who also extended appreciation to the Gymkhana Club for support.

Murad Jivan emerged runner-up for the Arusha Gymkhana Club Johnnie Walker Order of Merit 2020.

Playing since tender childhood, the rather tall, Garv, is a student at the Arusha Campus for the United World College East Africa (UWCEA), formerly known as International School Moshi (ISM).

“The Arusha Gymkhana runs monthly golf events at the Club; this time however we have just issued prizes to the overall winners of 2020 and 2021 Golf Seasons,” stated the AGC Competition Manager Niraj Vaghela.

The Arusha Gymkhana Club also organized another ‘Johnnie Walker September Monthly Mug’ in which Garv Chadha emerged the Division 1 winner with 71 net score, followed by Neema Olomi with 73 net.

George Frisby won in the Division 2 category with 74 net score, while Teji Bansal was runner-up with 74 net.

Division 3 winner was Victor Manzi (70 net) followed by Theresia Kanini Ndivo (71 net).
