Three killed, Seven Injured as Bus flies over bridge. Driver had fallen sick at the wheel before crash

A bus belonging to the Zuberi Express Transport Company which commutes between Mwanza City, Shinyanga and Kahama Region has crashed into a river valley at Mwigumbi area of Kishapu in Shinyanga Region, Wednesday evening.

The Shinyanga Regional Police Commander, George Kyando has affirmed that three people were killed in the accident.

The bus fell over the bridge

Among the dead victims is the driver of the Scania bus with registration T-435 DJS, identified as Hamza Haule.

Apparently, reports say the driver fell sick at the wheel and before he could stop the vehicle, he lost control and it plunged into the river.

Seven other passengers have been seriously injured and rushed to hospital in Shinyanga.

The Scania Bus, a Marcopolo G7 Viaggio, said to have carried 54 passengers on board, was involved in the accident while traveling from Mwanza to Kahama.

It crashed onto Mwigumbi Darajani, Bridge embarkment and overturned into the shallow river beneath at about 3.30 pm, Wednesday June, 15, 2022.

Rescue operations are ongoing at the scene of the crash.

Until now the number of people who have been reported dead remain three and seven injuries though their names have not yet to been revealed.
