The Tanzanian Head of State, President Samia Suluhu Hassan is among the more than 2500 leaders from around the world participating in the World Economic Forum’s annual Meeting of 2023.
The Forum Meeting is taking place in Davos, Switzerland, for five days from January 16 to January 20, 2023, and it is anticipated that the ongoing Russia war with Ukraine will dominate the agenda.
Running under the theme of ‘Cooperation in a Fragmented World’, the Annual Meeting 2023 brings together more than 2,500 leaders from government, business and civil society, who according to the organizers are gathering at a pivotal time for the world.
“The world today is at a critical inflection point. The sheer number of ongoing crises calls for bold collective action,” a statement from the World Economic Forum points out.
Due to that, therefore, the Annual WEF Meeting will convene leaders from government, business, and civil society to address the current state of the world and discuss priorities for the year ahead.
The Forum provides a global platform for leaders and other policy makers to engage in constructive, forward-looking dialogues and help find solutions through public-private cooperation.
Among the issues affecting the world today include the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
These occurrences have triggered significant transformations.
It is thus being noted that unless systemic risks are addressed, the promise of a ‘decade of action,’ may become a decade of uncertainty and fragility.
Davos 2023 Forum will provide an important podium to hatch forward-looking solutions and address the most pressing global challenges through public-private cooperation.
The Forum is chaired by Founder and Executive Chairman Professor Klaus Schwab.
The World Economic Forum is guided by a Board of Trustees, exceptional individuals who act as guardians of its mission and values, and oversee the Forum’s work in promoting true global nationality.
Delegates at the Davos meeting will also discuss issues of global warming and related effects of climate change affecting most parts of the world and steps taken to address the problems.
