Rebels in DR Congo capture four villages in Muronga Locality as fighting heats up again

The Rebel Coalition comprising the March 23 and Congo River Alliance fighters have once more annexed considerable parts of the country as fresh battles ensue in the Eastern parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

As fighting intensifies, it seems the government loyal Congo Armed Forces (FARDC) supported by the Wazalendo militia are being overpowered even as they were reportedly the first to attack the AFC-M23 rebels’ base.

In the Walikale territory, the AFC and M23 rebels have further advanced and taken control of new areas including four villages of Bukumbirwa, Rusamambu, Kilambo and Ngengere, in the Muronga locality (Ikobo group) following fighting against the combined FARDC and Wazalendo militiamen.

Reports from DR Congo reveal that the rebel groups launched attacks against Wazalendo positions in the Muronga locality, causing clashes that lasted for two days before eventually defeating the former and capturing the Rusamambu hamlet.

The people who used to live in the areas have fled, taking refuge in the bushes for safety, while the Wazalendo militiamen retreated to Misinga, another village located a few kilometers from Rusamambu.

This advance of the combined AFC and M23 forces towards other areas in Eastern Congo, comes after the FARDC and Wazalendo militia violated the ceasefire which was decreed to pave way for the completion of the various peace processes.

Meanwhile the new process to reclaim the former glory has begun among the people supporting retired DRC President, Joseph Kabila, who recently landed in Goma and has started Consulting Congolese Population in the city.

Former Democratic Republic of Congo Head of State, Joseph Kabila has officially launched his political agenda today, in the Goma city of North Kivu Province.

The honorary former president arrived in Goma and was received by the AFC-M23 Movement which is currently in control of the country’s eastern region.

He has started his political agenda with a series of citizen consultations aimed at gathering concerns and proposals.

Kabila, whose immunity was recently nullified, is expected to engage with various living forces of the nation facing the current challenges facing the DR Congo.
