President Trump appoints his daughter’s father-in-law to manage Africa’s affairs, starting with DR Congo

Keeping it in the family? President Trump has decided that the father of his daughter’s husband should be the right person to handle African issues, and he is sending him to DR Congo, Kenya and Uganda this week.

Massad Boulos has been appointed to serve as the new United States’ Senior Advisor for Africa and for his first task, he is flying into the Democratic Republic of Congo to try and address the ongoing conflict in the Eastern DRC.

An official dispatch from the U.S Department of State announced that the appointment of Massad Boulos as Senior Advisor for Africa commenced on the first day of April 2025.

Massad Fares Boulos, born in 1971, happens to be a Lebanese-born American businessman ​doubling as political associate of President Donald Trump.

Boulos is the father of Michael Boulos who has married Donals Trump’s daughter, Tiffany.

That makes Massad to be the father-in-law of Trump’s daughter Tiffany and part of the President’s family. But other than the relation, Boulos also supported Trump’s successful presidential campaign in the 2024 Elections.

Senior Advisor Boulos also serves as High-ranking Advisor to the President of the United States on the Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs. 

Following his appointment, Senior Advisor Boulos and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Corina Sanders will travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda starting April 3.

His mission to Africa comes at the time when the son of President Museveni, Muhoozi Kainerugaba expressed his admiration of President Trump, wishing that the American President would visit Uganda.

Muhoozi who heads the Ugandan People’s Defence Forces may just have gotten his wish, though Trump’s in-law, who will soon be jetting to Kampala.

During the trip, Senior Advisor Boulos and the team will meet with Heads of State and business leaders to advance efforts for durable peace in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and to promote the United States’ private sector investment in the Eastern African region.
