Ongoing conflict and the resulting humanitarian crisis in Sudan have got the attention of Patrol-Africa which through an official statement expresses deep concern about the dire situation.
Patrol-Africa, which is a non-profit organization working to foster Transparency and respect for the Rule of Law, says the ongoing conflict in Sudan continues to claim thousands of civilian and humanitarian workers’ lives.
“The escalating violence and loss of life in the country demand urgent action from the international community to bring about a ceasefire and foster dialogue between the warring parties and other stakeholders,” reads part of the statement.
“The situation in Sudan is dire, with innocent civilians and frontline humanitarian workers, bearing the brunt of the conflict,” Maintains Patrol-Africa which advocates for good and sustainable governance and human rights and the use of justice as a tool for development in Africa.
So far, thousands of people have been uprooted from their homes and forced to flee in neighboring countries, while the very idea of the Sudanese state is being fundamentally challenged by potential fragmentation and breakup.
The organization says it is imperative that all parties involved in this brutal and yet senseless conflict, prioritize the well-being of the Sudanese people and work towards a united, peaceful and prosperous country, capable to promote genuine reconciliation among its diverse people and groups, to help the country fully benefit from its diverse polity through peaceful coexistence.
“Patrol-Africa calls on all parties, most notably the warring parties to this conflict, to immediately cease hostilities, respect human rights and international humanitarian law, and engage in meaningful dialogue to address the root causes of the conflict.”
The organization called upon regional and international actors to intensify their efforts in supporting a peaceful resolution in Sudan.
All actors should reaffirm and redouble their efforts to support the Sudanese people in their quest for a united and prosperous country built on the respect for fundamental rights and freedoms and the rule of law.
“This includes providing assistance to those affected by the conflict, facilitating dialogue between the parties, and promoting national reconciliation, underpinned by equality of citizenship for all Sudanese people”, said Justice Ben Kioko, President of Patrol Africa.

He added that people of The Sudan deserve peace, stability, and a brighter future.
Kioko affirmed that Patrol-Africa stands in solidarity with the Sudanese people and calls on all stakeholders to work together towards a sustainable and inclusive peace in the country.
He reminded that his organization aims at playing a catalytic and advisory role and provide technical support to countries in justice reforms, rule of law, transparency, transitional justice, and accountability adapted to national justice systems and cultures whilst taking into account international standards.
