Oman traders forge ties with their Tanzania counterparts

A trade delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently toured Tanzania to kick-start envisaged business relations and forge ties with fellow counterparts in Dar-es-salaam.

With part of their tour covering meat processing firms, it seems Tanzania may soon become the main meat exporters to Muscat.

The business envoys from Oman held audience with Tanzanian company representatives and top entrepreneurs to explore opportunities for strengthening trade and investment ties.

According to the Head of the Oman Trade Delegation Dr. Salim bin Salim Al Junaibi, their visit to Tanzania is an important step toward rekindling the historical and cultural relationship between the two countries.

The Historical roots are thus going to be morphed into “tangible economic projects.”

Al Junaibi added that Tanzania is considered to be a “broad gateway to Africa” with promising opportunities across various sectors.

The visits are also aimed at strengthening the Sultanate of Oman’s focus on the African continent as a strategic future market.

On his part the Tanzanian Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry Dr. Hashil Twibo, welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the deep historical relations and the importance of building investment partnerships that serve both nations.

The Tanzanian envoy to Muscat, Ambassador Abdullah Killima also praised the active role of the Omani private sector and confirmed that the Tanzanian government supports investors from the Arabian Peninsula.

The delegation’s visit included tours of a major meat-producing company and the Kamika Free Industrial City, which is an advanced model for attracting investments in agriculture, food industries, and logistics.
