Prince Charles Makongoro Nyerere, the grandson of Tanzania’s founding President has just announced his keen interest to stage a spectacular home debut in the Fourth National Rally Championships.
Nyerere Junior will be spinning the wheel in Arusha in the second weekend of November 2024.
The Guru Nanak Rally heads for a spectacular flag-off in the Monduli District on Saturday the 16th of November and is to climax on the following Sunday.
Prince Nyerere, who made his career debut during Rwanda’s Mountain Gorilla Rally early this year, said he hopes his first rally in Tanzania will be very rewarding and he is ready to face any opposition from in and outside the country.
“It is my first event at home since we are based here in Arusha. I have never participated in any motor racing event in Tanzania before as my career debut started with the Rwandan round of the African Rally Championship (ARC),” said Prince Nyerere.
The grandson of Tanzania’s Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, Prince Nyerere told Tanzania Times that he is among the latest entries in this year’s Guru Nanak Rally which also serves as the fourth round of this year’s National Rally Championship (NRC).
Under the navigation of Karim Munisi, Prince Nyerere will join the event’s title race in the Mitsubishi Evolution 10 (R4 Spec) which he said is among the best machines for dusty road showdown.

Prince Nyerere becomes the fourth driver from Arusha after Gurpal Sandhu, Vishal Patel, and Jamil Shabhai, who are among the earliest entries.
Also listed as the late entry is a Kenyan Jaspreet Chatthe who will be racing in a Ford R5 that seems to rival Yassin Anwar‘s car.
Also among the late entries is Ahmed Huwel from Iringa and Samir Nahdi Shanto from Morogoro.
Organized by Arusha Motor Sports Club (AMSC), Guru Nanak Rally will be officially flagged off this Saturday with a 67 kilometers Super Special Stage (SSS) in the Mswakini and Naitolya areas.
The second-day flag-off will see the cars covering 150 kilometers, making the two-day event to sum up a total of 217 kilometers racing showdown.
According to the organizers, the Arusha Motor Sports Club, several foreign entries from Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, and Zambia have also confirmed their participation in this year’s event.
