Who will be the next President of Uganda once Yoweri Kaguta Museveni retires?
The Tanzania born, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba believes he is going to be the tenth Ugandan Head of State in Uganda once his father calls it quits after 34 years in office.
General Muhoozi confidently tweeted his aspiration for the second time in March 2023 as follow-up to the same statement he issued in October 2022.
Mike Sonko, the popular Kenyan Politician answered Muhoozi by saying if that is the case then Uganda will be the first Monarch in East Africa.
General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, is an Ugandan army officer, who also happens to be the son of the current Ugandan Head of State, Yoweri Museveni.
“I will be President of Uganda after my father. Those fighting the truth will be very disappointed!” Muhoozi Tweeted.
Then he goes on to say; “I will organise and make our country great as Almighty God always intended it to be,” he said.
The fact that President Museveni hasn’t said anything about his son’s claims goes to show that Muhoozi may have his blessings.
For his first job in office, General Kainerugaba intends to ban polygamous marriages, insisting ‘One Husband and One Wife as Jesus ordered.’
Then he proceeds to contradict himself again by saying he will ensure that Ugandans maintain Africa’s culture and tradition, without realizing that polygamy is one of them.
Muhoozi Kainerugaba, was born in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania on 24 April 1974.
He spent much of his childhood in Tanzania, especially in Moshi, Tanga and Dar-es-salaam.
The first son of Uganda, General Kainerugaba is also the country’s top ranking army officer.
Muhoozi has been commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC) from 2008 to 2017 and again from December 2020 to 2021.
He then became commander of the land forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) from 24 June 2021 to 4 October 2022.
His father had to remove Kainerugaba from the position after posting an outburst of diplomacy destroying tweets, claiming to be capable of invading the neighbouring country of Kenya and capturing its capital city, Nairobi.
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has ruled Uganda since January 1986.
