Until early hours of Thursday, September 1, 2022 the administration building and Casino wing at the New Mwanza Hotel had been destroyed by flames.
The fire which erupted at the hotel in the night of Wednesday, August 31, 2022 remains a mysterious occurrence, with some people claiming electric fault.
It is also yet to be known how many guests were in the hotel when the fire burst forth.
The Hotel is located on Posta Street along Posta Road in Mwanza City, on the shores of Lake Victoria.
Our Correspondent in Mwanza says nobody knows for sure if there have been casualties so far.
Apart from the razed down wing, it is still too early to document other loss of property resulting from the night fire.
The Regional Commissioner for Mwanza, Adam Malima who arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, confirmed the outbreak.
Large crowd of people thronged the area, with many of them simply out to witness the incident other than assisting to quench the flames.
It was tough work for the few who were busy trying to put out the fire using all possible means.
The fire brigade seems to be doing all the best but somehow the fire proved to be too much even for them.
