Hospitality industry, precisely Hotels and Tourism may benefit from new agreement between Dar-es-salaam and Doha.
The State of Qatar in Western Asia has inked Memorandum of Understanding with Tanzania targeting to boost business and investments between the two countries.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan currently in Qatar has witnessed the signing of the tripartite Memorandum of Understanding.
The MoU has been inked in Doha between the Chambers of Commerce of Qatar, Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar Isles aiming at strengthening trade and investment relations.
Signatories to that effect were the First Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce Mohamed Bin Ahmed Twar Al Kuwari and the President of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), Paul Koyi.
Also inking the agreement was the Chairman of the Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), Ali Suleiman Amour.
The objective of the MoU is to enhance trade and investment cooperation and partnership between business communities from Tanzania and Qatar.
The agreement seems to mainly focus in the areas of tourism and hospitality, infrastructure and energy.
Apart from the signing of the MoU, President Samia held talks with Qatar’s Finance Minister, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.
The two leaders addressed issues of double taxation between two countries, investments, gas sector, livestock, tourism and agriculture.
Also, during talks between President Samia and Qatar’s Public Health Minister, Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Tanzania and Qatar agreed to share expertise on emergency and trauma care.
Among other activities during her working visit to Qatar, President Samia also met the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, business leaders and attended the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) that was held at the Multaqa Education Centre in Doha.
