Muslims in India protest against ‘The Diary of West Bengal,’ film saying it was insulting their religion

There is a new film that is soon set for release in India, but which may cause uproar in the Muslim communities in the country and around the world over what is being described as blasphemous content.

The Vice President of Shia Ulma-E-HindLucknow India, Shaikh Maulana Rajani Hasan Ali says the production targets to tarnish the image of Islam and the religion’s prophet.

According to a press statement from Maulana Rajani Ali, there is a scene which features a disgusting act of insulting the last prophet of Muslims (SAW) by writing his name ‘Mohammad’ on a musical instrument known as Dholak.

A Dholak is a two-sided hand drum, a folk percussion instrument, most common in Asian countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. In the forthcoming movie, the drum bearing Mohammad’s name gets played.

But other than the drum, it is being reported that the film also includes other unpalatable scenes.

‘The Diary of West Bengal,’ has been scheduled for release on the 30th day of August 2024.

However, Muslims in India plan to stage a major protest against the screening of the ‘blasphemous,’ feature film.

They will be marching in the streets and at Jantar Mantar Delhi from August 16 onwards.

The film claims to show incidents of violent attacks against Hindus and love jihad.

As for the ‘love jihad,’ it is a conspiracy theory claiming that Muslims have been luring Hindu women into marriage to force them to convert into their religion.

“We condemn the film ‘The Diary of West Bengal,’ which comes out on 30th August and appeal to the government to ban this film.”

“Otherwise, if the situation in the country worsens due to the blasphemous film, we shall hold the government responsible for the chaos that may ensue as well as other deadly outcomes,” warns Hasan Ali.

“And because the film board has censored some scenes, this proves that there is a lot of vulgarity in the feature” said Maulana Rajani adding that they were sorry that the government has also given permission to release a film like this.

The film director, Sanoj Mishra Sanoj admits to having encountered difficulties while directing the ‘Diary of West Bengal.’

Sanoj said that they had to put in a lot of hard work to get The Diary of West Bengal released in comparison to directing the film as many scenes and sequences of the feature had to be reshot.
