Moïse Katumbi’s Political Party blames Kinshasa State House for Rebels Taking Over Goma City
The main political party in the DR Congo, led by the former Presidential Candidate, Moïse Katumbi is breathing fire down the current Kinshasa President, Felix Tshisekedi for the fall of Goma city in North Kivu, into the hands of rebels.
The Ensemble Pour la Republique party which is the Democratic Republic of Congo’s leading opposition group is showering blame on President Félix Tshisekedi for the political instability in Eastern DRC and chaos currently affecting greater parts of the country.
The city of Goma was last week captured by the Congo River Alliance in conjunction with the March 23 politico-military coalition forces as Congo Armed Forces (FARDC) were forced to surrender to the rebels.
The main opposition party has since issued a statement indicating that it was due to President Felix Tshisekedi’s incompetence and irresponsible leadership that the country is facing current turmoil.
They insist that the fall of the North Kivu city should be blamed on the State House.
The Ensemble Pour la Republique Party spokesperson Olivier Kamitatu has therefore urged Tshisekedi to start taking responsibility for his failure and lack of ideas to manage and protect the nation or counter the rebels.
“The fall of Goma is the failure of Félix Tshisekedi. The President must assume it without trying to defend himself or seek excuses as that will no longer serve him any good,” a statement issued by Olivier Kamitatu reads.
While the country’s eastern region comes under continued volatility, DR Congo’s government, through the Minister of Justice Constant Mutamba has repossessed properties belonging to the joint AFC and M23 coalition forces leader, Corneille Nangaa.
The houses are located in Kinshasa City.
Previously, the Ministry of Justice had initially announced that the properties belonging to Nangaa would be auctioned but there are some unverified claims purporting that some DRC Government officials have taken the properties as their own.
Living in danger are relatives and family of the rebel group leader, Corneille Nangaa who are reportedly still in Kinshasa City of DRC.
