The Dbeibeh Government in Libya has launched a series of Airstrikes on areas believed to be hideouts for Smuggling Networks and syndicates.
Reports from Tripoli are to the effect that the Ministry of Defence under the Western region based Government of National Unity, led by Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibeh, is warning civilians to evacuate areas where special anti-smuggling operations are being executed.
The Dbeibeh government has announced the commencement of precise airstrikes targeting specific locations harbouring outlaw elements involved in organized crime.
According to an official statement, from the Libyan Defence Ministry, these operations are part of a comprehensive military campaign aimed at dismantling networks engaged in human smuggling and drug trafficking.
Libya has of late been notorious with cases of human trafficking, abduction, kidnapping for ransom, child labor, extortion, drug trafficking and torture.
Already a number of arrests have so far been made with victims rescued from dungeons, but it seems the problem continues to persist, and Libya now wants to apply excessive force to solve the rackets once and for all.
Many of the rackets are being carried out by a hybrid of foreign nationals and Libyan criminal gangs.
According to the ministry these acts were posing a “serious threat to public security and national safety.”
The Defence Ministry in the North African country has therefore called on all residents living near the targeted areas to immediately evacuate and avoid approaching any suspected hideouts.
Authorities in Libya have also issued a stern warning against offering any form of support or shelter to these criminal groups, emphasizing that such actions will be treated as a violation of national security.
