An order of British Empire title goes to the niece of the former President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta.
Claudia, the granddaughter of the first President of Kenya, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, is among the chosen few who get to be awarded with special merits by the Monarch of the United Kingdom, King Charles III.
Claudia Rose Kenyatta is among the distinguished persons being recognized in the list of the monarch’s New Year’s honors list which was recently released in London.
She is set to be made a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) by King Charles III for her services to heritage.
Miss Kenyatta is the Director of Regions at Historic England and Chairperson of the Battersea Art Centre.
Claudia was born in London, Britain and got educated at South Hampstead High School.
She later proceeded to Oxford University for her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Modern History and University College London for her Masters of Arts (MA) in Museums Studies.
Claudia happens to be the granddaughter of Mzee Kenyatta and his British wife Edna Grace Clarke, who later became Mrs Edna Kenyatta
Historically she is the daughter of Peter Magana Kenyatta, the elder brother to Uhuru Kenyatta.
Peter, however, is not very much known to the public, especially the new generation of Kenyans.
While the retired Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta, remains the most famous son of the founding father of the Nation, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, a number of his siblings prefer keeping a low profile, despite being members of the prominent family.
One such is Peter Magana, the only child between the founding father and his British wife Edna Clarke, who was rarely in the public limelight.
Mzee Jomo Kenyatta once married a beautiful British lady Edna Grace, who gave birth to Peter who also lived to marry a British woman and give birth to Claudia Rose.
All these children have been carrying Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s surname.
