Kenya’s popular comedian program, the Churchill show will make a debut across the border in Tanzania with a live performance in the country’s Northern City of Arusha.
The report we have so far is that Churchill goes live on the 28th of December 2024, four days after Christmas and with only two days left before the New Year 2025.
It is still not known who is behind the Churchill Show in Tanzania but we understand that the Arusha Regional Commissioner’s office is very much active in ensuring that the Kenyan comedian group goes on stage in the city.
The venues are also yet to be known though early indications point to the Gran Melia Hotel, a high-end accommodation property in the Northern City which therefore means the entry tickets won’t come cheap either.
A few months ago, the show’s frontman, Daniel Ndambuki who carries the ‘Churchill’ trademark and personality, visited Arusha and was seen at the Regional Commissioner’s office, clad in white suit and promising a show in Tanzania.
And in the week towards Christmas, the Arusha Regional Commissioner’s office started posting fliers on the imminent performance of the comedian team from Kenya, during the last week of the year 2024.
Tanzania has not been able to develop its own stand-up comedy and the feeble attempts that try to fill the vacuum seem pathetic at most.
Churchill Show, though mostly a comedian outfit in Kenya, also covers many topics on stage including history, music, fashion and celebrity parading.
While usually staged live, Churchill is also aired simultaneously on Television and social media platforms.
The show premiered on Nation Television (NTV) in 2007, ending its run in February 2022.
It was reported that Churchill faced contractual disagreements with Nation Media Group (NMG) and therefore left NTV moved to partner with Cape Media Limited-owned network TV47.
However, in June 2024, Churchill reportedly went back to the Nation Media Group.
