Kenya’s Churchill Live bids fans farewell as show closes down for good

Kenya’s popular live comedian television show, Churchill is coming to an end.

Churchill Show, which started out in 2007 as Churchill Live, is calling it quits after 17 years of cracking its fans’ ribs. The front man of the comedy says the show will close curtains with a final recording on the last day of 2024.

The Kenyan comedy show host, Daniel Ndambuki, popularly known as ‘Churchill, announced the end of the program’s era during the well-attended live show held at the Arusha International Conference Center (AICC) in Tanzania’s Northern City.

‘Churchill,’ told the patrons in Arusha that the December 31st TV Comedy recording will be the group’s final outing, after which he will be moving on to establish something new.

“After today this is the second last recording I am doing here in Arusha,” stated Churchill in a solemn voice, in what could have been a heart-braking moment if the announcement was made in Nairobi where people have grown up with the show for nearly two decades.

Daniel Ndambuki, used the occasion in Arusha to divulge what was being lined up under his belt for the new year 2025.

“On the 31st of December 2024 that will be it,” he said. But where is Churchill going?

“I am starting a solo career, something more soul searching, self-realization, something I have always wanted to do called ‘Youth Connect,’ because I have realized it is high time I embark on a new mission of empowering other young people and creating future leaders,” stated Daniel Churchill.

“I want to build better and more successful young people through proper mentoring,” he explained.

But he extends the generosity to the upcoming Tanzanian artists striving to be comedians, promising to train and shape them into good performers.

The ‘Churchill Show,’ which was staged in Northern Tanzania on the 28th of December 2024, was organized by the Arusha Regional Commissioner’s Office, as part of the series of events planned to usher the local community into the New Year 2025.

It was the first and definitely last time that the ‘Churchill Show,’ was being held in Tanzania.
