Kenya returns to defend soccer trophy at Kitambi Noma International Bonanza 2025 in Arusha

The 2025 instalment of Kitambi Noma International Sports Bonanza is once more taking place in Arusha City with more than 20 football teams from all over East Africa, expected to participate.

Kenya is fielding four teams in the 9th Kitambi Noma, with the Chini ya Mti soccer Club from Nairobi, which won the trophy last year, also returning to Arusha to defend its crown.

As usual the 9th episode of Kitambi Noma takes place during Easter Holidays, covering the weekend from the 19th to the 20th of April 2025.

James Lugangila, the chairperson of the Kitambi Noma Sports Club, said the international Bonanza usually brings together veteran soccer players from all over the East African Region.

“We have 20 confirmed teams from Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar,” Lugangila stated, adding that they have decided to stop enrolling more despite huge demand, because of the limited time.

On his part the chairperson of the organizing, planning and financial committee, Daudi Killo said the Kitambi Noma Bonanza brings into Arusha more than 800 delegates from seven regions of the mainland Tanzania as well as Zanzibar Isles plus the neighboring country of Kenya.

Lila Iddy Maganga is the Kitambi Noma communications officer who reveals that as per arrangements, the games will be played in four groups comprising five teams each.

Every group will produce two teams that will be playing in the final matches of the Bonanza.

The ninth Kitambi Noma International Bonanza is going to be staged on at least four venues in the Northern city, including the UWC Arena, Saint Constantine, Ilboru School grounds and the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium.

Last year (2024) Tanzania fielded teams from Tanga, Mbeya, Iringa, Morogoro, Kilimanjaro, Dar-es-salaam and the hosting region of Arusha.

The Iringa Veterans team was awarded with the recognition for being the most disciplined squad during the previous Arusha bonanza.

The Arusha District Football Association (ADFA) says the preparations for the next Kitambi Noma Bonanza 2025 are in place and that it is anticipated that this event will attract more sports lovers in the city.
