When will the JBL Boombox 4 launch? And what will the new product feature to beat the competition?
In the current world where wireless loudspeakers rule the audio industry, the highly anticipated JBL Boombox 4 is certainly causing excitement around the globe, weeks before its proposed release dates.
The new JBL Boombox 4, coming out later this year, is set to replace the JBL Boombox 3
Already teaser photos for the new Bluetooth speaker are making rounds on the internet and getting widely shared across social media platforms, with mixed reactions.
Observers predict that JBL will be launching the two variations of the new Boombox 4 speaker at the ‘Innovations for All‘ (IFA) gadgets exhibition 2025 which will take place in September 2025 in Berlin, Germany.
Another IFA event will also take place in Portugal in October, but historically JBL usually uses the IFA events in Berlin to showcase the company’s new products.
Most Chinese and North American companies will be using the IFA 2025 in Berlin, starting from the 5th of September 2025, to present their new top of the line Gadget to the world.
Features
Reliable information indicates that JBL will release two types of the fourth generation of its Boomboxes.
Later, the Boombox 4 should be hitting the shops from October 2025.
Just like the previous JBL Boombox 3, the new speaker is also bound to be IP67 rated dustproof and waterproof, sealing against elements so that it can be carried anywhere, rain or shine, in the woods, on beaches or desert dunes.
There will be a JBL Boombox 4T, which would be a more basic model, or if you prefer an essential model, packing similar features to what is already contained in the Boombox 3 with Bluetooth serving as the main connection method, but without WiFi and possibly also missing the 3.55 millimetres audio input.

The battery stone in the package will be able to run the unit for 24 hours on a single charge when the speaker is on basic settings.
On the other hand, the JBL Boombox 4C should be a higher-end model, possibly having a WiFi connection in addition to Bluetooth, a larger battery to last 28 hours, with premium features such as the 3.5 millimetres, jack, a guitar terminal, a USB charging port and possibly an SD Card slot.
But something which should also be expected in the new JBL speakers, is the inclusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) engine, whether to boost digital voice assistance, take care of battery life or efficiently calibrating the surrounding environment for improved audio outputs and volume.
Plus, the Boombox 4 also features a new ‘Enigma’ button, which as of now, nobody knows what it is supposed to do, but others think it may be for boosting the spatial audio engine.
Power
The JBL Boombox 4, according to early information, will feature not less than 6 active drivers and the usual 2 signature passive radiators on each side of the barrel.
We are talking of two sub-woofers, two mid-rangers and two twitters.
Since the JBL Boombox 3 had a power output of 180 watts, maximum, the new Boombox 4 is expected to pump up not less than 250 watts RMS and not more than 300 watts.
Well, at least, in order to beat the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 the highly rated competition currently in the market which flexes the cones at 200 watts.
And that is because the other competitor, Soundcore, could be working up the new Boom 3 and Boom 3 plus, bluetooth speakers which are expected to be twice as powerful as their current ancestors.
Sony, with their ULT range of speakers have also been improving their games in portable audio units that now sound much better, while looking great as well.
JBL has always been the industry leader with their range of portable speakers, but with the emergence of new players, offering better products at half the price, the Harman Kardon owned company needs to work twice as hard in order to stay afloat in the saturated market.
