Japan’s Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Tourism and Transport, Ogasawara Kenichi will be leading a delegation of five experts from his ministry in Tokyo to visit Tanzania in March 2025.
The Director of International Strategies for the Construction Industry at Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT), Kakuya Daisuke explained that the Ministerial visit from Tokyo, is a follow-up event to the Tanzania-Japan Quality Infrastructure Dialogue (QID), held in October 2024 in Dar es Salaam.
Kakuya, who had paid a visit at the Tanzanian Embassy in Tokyo, explained further that the delegation of six Japanese officials led by Deputy Minister Kenichi, are expecting to engage in discussions with high-ranking officials from relevant Tanzanian institutions for Tourism, Works and Transport.
The previous Japan-Tanzania meeting provided positive feedback on collaboration between the two countries in matters of investment, infrastructure development, Transport and Tourism.
During their time in Tanzania, the experts will have an audience with officials at the Tanzania Investment Center (TIC), the Ministry of Works, Tourism and the Ministry of Transport.
There will also be discussions on the two upcoming events in Japan, including the EXPO 2025 which is scheduled to take place from April to October 2025 in Osaka City.
The other forthcoming event is the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Summit, an international conference on the theme of development in Africa.
The TICAD 9 Summit is set to take place in August 2025 in Yokohama.
Kakuya revealed continuing efforts to form partnerships with key Tanzanian institutions in infrastructure, education, and labor with the goal of boosting careers in technical fields such as engineering.
He added that the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) in collaboration with infrastructure companies under the Japan Infrastructure Development Association (JAIDA), intends to collaborate with Tanzania to support higher learning institutions that offer engineering programs, including vocational training.

The MLIT Director pointed out that these initial steps would prepare Tanzanian experts to oversee subsequent Japanese investments in the country.
The Tanzanian Embassy in Japan was pleased with the constructive feedback received and informed Mr. Kakuya that favorable results are to be anticipated, since infrastructure development is critical to Tanzania’s economic growth.
The Embassy further underlined the need of engaging with MLIT and JAIDA for Tanzania’s successful participation in the EXPO2025 and the TICAD 9 Summit.
