Al-Samood Caravan, a pro-Palestinian solidarity convoy is currently making its way across Libya en route to Gaza, but the progress may be hampered by the new negative development between Israel and Iran.
The caravan is composed of participants from several North African countries, including Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Libya.
The convoy aims at breaking the Israeli-imposed siege on the Palestinian people.
Somehow the convoy has been warmly welcomed by the Government of National Unity in Libya’s Western region.
However, its progress toward Egypt and ultimately Gaza may face delays and things may change following the new war outbreak between Israel and Iran.
The Eastern region authorities have yet to grant passage to the convoy through their territory, citing the absence of Egyptian visas for the participants.
According to officials from the Eastern-based government, efforts are underway to coordinate with Egyptian authorities to secure the necessary visas. Until then, the caravan may not be permitted to proceed into the Eastern region or toward the Salloum border crossing with Egypt.
The diplomatic situation remains fluid, with the convoy’s organizers urging for regional cooperation to ensure the safe and peaceful passage of humanitarian support to the besieged people of Gaza.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation under the Eastern region government is closely following the Al Samood Caravan, a civil initiative aimed at supporting Palestinians, breaking the blockade on Gaza, and standing against Israeli aggression.
The Ministry affirmed to support this peaceful effort and the Palestinian cause, especially as Palestinians face hunger, siege, and attacks in violation of international law.

“We also note the June 11 statement from Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs outlining regulations for accessing areas near Gaza. We urge full respect for these rules and proper coordination with Egyptian authorities to ensure safety and success.”
Libya is calling upon all countries and organizations to support Palestine’s right to build an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, lift the siege on Gaza, and ensure the return of displaced Palestinians in line with international decisions.
The North African country reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian cause, equal treatment of Palestinians within Libya, and the House of Representatives’ law banning normalization with Israel.
