This week, the Hinduja group flagship firm, Ashok Leyland reports to have delivered 150 vehicles, including trucks and buses to supplement the Tanzanian Police Force Fleet.
The new shipment will make the Tanzania Police Force to have more than 600 Ashok Leyland branded vehicles on its fleet.
The vehicle supplies from India are part of a contract signed between Ashok Leyland and the Ministry of Home Affairs in Tanzania.
The equipment procurement is financed through a long-term soft loan extended by the Export Import (EXIM) Bank of India.
Ashok Leyland President Amandeep Singh says in an official statement that the company has exported to Tanzania various types of vehicles to be deployed in the country’s police force.
The delivered vehicles, according to Ashok Leyland, include Police Staff Buses, 4X4 Police Troop Carriers, ambulances, recovery trucks and other logistic vehicles for the Police support services.
These 150 vehicles will be added to the 475 Ashok Leyland vehicles, which are already in operation with the Tanzanian Police Force across the country, a statement from Ashok Leyland President Amandeep Singh reveals.
The Tanzania Police Force currently has a fleet of 625 Ashok Leyland vehicles and additional vehicles are planned for delivery in the coming months, the commercial vehicle maker stated.
Operating from Chennai, Ashok Leyland is an Indian multinational motor vehicle manufacturer, owned by the Hinduja Group.
Ashok Leyland was founded in 1948 as Ashok Motors then in the year 1955 the company became Ashok Leyland.
So far it is the second-most successful manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India.
Ashok Leyland is also the third-most successful manufacturer of buses in the world.
The entity is on the other hand, the tenth-most successful manufacturer of trucks globally.
