The Police here have finally confirmed discovery of four dead bodies in Tanga Region
As reports of missing persons continue to pile up in Tanzania, four dead bodies have been discovered ditched in the wilderness of Handeni District of Tanzania.
The Police in Tanzania have confirmed the incident, saying three of the bodies are yet to be identified.
This comes a few days after people in Handeni complained, through social media platforms, that some six unidentified dead bodies have been traced to their location.
An official statement from the Tanga Regional Police Commander reveals that the four dead bodies have been discovered thrown at different sites, mostly forests and three belong to elderly men while one corpse was found to be a woman.
The lady victim was found to be the 24 year old Fatuma Athuman, a resident of Kidereko Village of Handeni. Four people suspected to have been involved in the killing have been arrested.
Among the other three male dead bodies, one was discovered to be the late Bernard Wilson Masaka aged 43, a wealthy businessman hailing from Morogoro Region and who is reported to have been a butcher and owner of a number of butcher shops and other meat outlets.
Masaka was reported missing for days before his body was discovered in Handeni.
The Police explain that Benard Masaka was indeed killed and that the suspects behind the murder have already been apprehended and locked in a cell, pending further investigations regarding the matter.
As far as the police are concerned, the motive could have been cut-throat competition in business.
The police report did not explain how a butcher all the way from Morogoro met his death at Handeni in Tanga. His body was exhumed within the Manga Division in the Mkata Ward of Handeni.
On the other hand, two more dead bodies, belonging to male victims of possible murder, have also been discovered and these are still being kept in a morgue awaiting identification from friends, or neighbours and maybe relatives.
