Elfyn Evans and his Co-driver Scott Martin, both from the United Kingdom have emerged victorious in the 2025 World Rally Championship Safari Rally in Kenya.
The duo managed to maintain the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team’s continued dominance in the Safari Rally.
The 36-year-old Welshman and Toyota ace Elfyn Evans won the third leg of the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC), the Safari Rally, which drove up to a finish in Naivasha last Sunday evening.
Evans clocked 4:20:03.8 to win the four-day gruelling safari rally racing on a 1:09.9 seconds advantage.
Evans arrived landed in East Africa with clear bravery following victory in the snow of Sweden in February 2025 and a runner-up finish at the season-opening Monte Carlo Rally.
Now, with a commanding 36-point advantage in the WRC drivers’ standings, the Welshman has carved out clear daylight between himself and his title rivals after the third of 14 rounds.
Ott Tanak of Hyundai team was leading the rally until he smashed a driveshaft on Friday, leaving the Toyota group with a clear path.
On the other hand Evans’ Toyota team-mate Kalle Rovanpera retired after a string of problems.
This apparently was Evans’ first victory in the Kenyan event but a fifth Safari success in a row for Toyota.
“A huge well done to the team, they did a great job and I’m proud to be a very small part of Toyota’s history at this special rally,” said Evans.
