Tanzania starts investigations on the case of Chinese Tourist killed in Serengeti National Park Accident
Tanzania is launching investigations to probe the case of the Chinese tourist who was killed in a vehicle accident while game-driving in Serengeti.
The Chinese tourist who was visiting Tanzania was killed in an accident involving a Safari Vehicle.
The accident occured in the country’s third biggest National Park, the Serengeti.
Six other visitors from China who were travelling in the tour van, sustained serious injuries.
The seven visitors from China happen to be among the thousands of tourists currently game driving in the Serengeti National Park specifically to witness the annual wildebeest migration escapades, especially the spectacular scenario involving millions of ungulates crossing the Mara River.
The Toyota Landcruiser Tour truck, belonging to the Yonda Africa
According to a statement released by the Head of Communications Department at the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA), Catherine Mbena, the vehicle, a Toyota Landcruiser (70 Series) with registration number T 603 DCL, belonged to Yonda Africa Tour Company.
The statement did not divulge the name of the deceased or those other occupants of the ill-fated tour truck. Efforts to contact the management of Yonda Africa also proved to be futile.
It is being reported that the vehicle, which had just conducted a day game drive, was taking the visitors back to Lobo Wildlife Lodge, when it overturned some 900 meters from the property.
The occupants in the safari vehicle included the seven Chinese tourists and one driver, a Tanzanian doubling as guide.
The crash claimed the life of one of the tourists, leaving the other six badly hurt.
They were rushed to the nearby Mugumu Hospital which serves the Serengeti District
