The President of China, Xi Jinping has just met and held talks with Prime Minister of Senegal, Ousmane Sonko in Beijing.
The Chinese President Xi Jinping held an audience with the Senegalese Premier during Ousmane Sonko’s visit to China attending the 2025 Summer Davos, taking place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The Summer Davos is also known as the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2025.
It was held in North China’s Tianjin, serving as platform for leaders, representatives of governments, businesses, think tanks, and other sectors around the world to engage in dialogue and exchange ideas, an official of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
But back to the meeting between Xi ans Sonko.
Xi Jinping reminded that last September, he co-chaired the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing with the Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
He said the occasion was leading China-Africa relations into a new phase of jointly building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.
It was also stated that China and Senegal are great companions on the path to development and revitalization.
They are again termed as good brothers, therefore the Chinese leader assured that Beijing was willing to continue working with Senegal in strengthening their solidarity and cooperation.
The two nations will thus deepen their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, bring more benefits to the peoples of China and Senegal as well as injecting fresh impetus into China-Africa friendship and Global South cooperation.

On his part, Senegal’s Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko expressed his “deep gratitude” to China for its support of the country’s women’s basketball team, after the United States rejected visas for several members ahead of a planned training camp.
The visa refusals come amid US President Donald Trump’s administration’s immigration crackdown and tightened border controls.
Senegal is among 36 nations the US is considering adding to a travel ban barring entry to its territory, according to an internal administration memo.
