BRICS countries to present joint position at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in November

BRICS countries intend to jointly present a single position at the forthcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference.

The idea was raised in Brazil, where BRICS countries are converging for their summit.

Delegates advised that the BRICS countries should present a joint position during the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30).

Apparently, COP 30 will also be taking place in Belém, Brazil, from the 10th to the 21st of November 2025.

BRICS is an intergovernmental organization comprising ten countries forming its acronym that is Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates.

Also, during weeks and days towards the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, senior envoys from key member states had emphasised the need for intensified cooperation to combat terrorism.

They also called on fully integration of the priorities of the Global South into the BRICS group’s agenda.

From July 6th to 7th, the 2025 BRICS Summit held its annual summit in the Rio de Janeiro City of Brazil.

While the summit was taking place in Rio, the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB) convened its first BRICS space leaders meeting, setting the stage for Brazil’s 2025 BRICS Presidency.

Brazilian Ambassador Mauricio Lyrio said that his country would suggest to the BRICS emerging economies forum that it design a joint proposal to finance the fight against climate change in the poorest countries.

On the other hand the BRICS summit also focused on key areas such as trade and investment facilitation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) regulation, climate change action, public health cooperation, and institutional development.

Leaders from the member states and partner countries but strange Xi Jinping of China was missing, discussed strategies for strengthening economic ties, reforming global financial institutions, and addressing geopolitical challenges

The summit brought together leaders from 20 nations, including full members and partners.

Also in preparation for the upcoming BRICS Summit, the city of Rio de Janeiro officially declared July 7, 2025, a public holiday, aiming to ensure smooth logistics and enhanced security during the high-level international gathering.

The announcement was made by Rio’s municipal government in coordination with Brazil’s federal authorities.

In another development, the ‘Brotherhood-2025,’ round-the-world expedition is being flagged off in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, and is set to return by the end of February 2026. The mission will be flying BRICS colours throughout the trip.
