Blood Moon over the Sun: Lunar and Solar eclipses in September 2025

There will be two Eclipses within one Unforgettable Month: September!

The month of September 2025 brings not one, but two breath-taking sky events that are guaranteed to turn nights and days into cosmic theatre.

A Blood Moon will be spotted in the skies between the 7th and 8th of September, 2025.

This means the Moon will slip into Earth’s shadow and start to glow in a deep crimson sphere in the process.

And because it happens just 2.6 days before perigee, the lunar body is expected to shine slightly larger than usual, revealing some sort of a giant red lantern in the sky.

This phenomenon will be clearly seen in full view by people in Asia, Africa, Europe and Australia, with the entire show getting enjoyed mostly in Western Australia and much of Asia.

For Africa and Europe, the moon will rise while already in eclipse.

Unfortunately for people in the Americas, there will be no show for them this time.

After the blood moon experience in the first week of September, a partial Solar Eclipse follows during the third week of the month.

Two weeks later, the Moon takes a bite out of the Sun, creating a dramatic partial eclipse with up to 85 percent coverage.

The partial solar eclipse comes up the skies on the 21st of September 2025

This phenomenon can clearly be observed in Southern New Zealand, Eastern Australia and the Pacific islands as well as Antarctica.

Two shadows and two chances to stand in awe of the universe, September 2025 is a pure celestial magical month.

In Summary

This September, the skies are putting on not one, but two jaw-dropping performances.

The Blood Moon of September 7

The Moon will pass entirely through Earth’s shadow, taking on stunning shades of deep red and bronze.

A hauntingly beautiful sight that’s completely safe to watch with the naked eye—just find a dark, open spot and enjoy the view.

The Sun getting a Cosmic Bite of September 21

A Partial Solar Eclipse will see the Moon slide across the Sun, creating surreal crescent patterns of light.

Caution: Never look directly at it without certified solar glasses, filters, or a safe projection method.
