Arusha Member of Parliament in Exile Returns to Tanzania in March

Godbless Jonathan Lema, the charismatic Tanzanian politician and former Member of Parliament for Arusha Urban, is set to address the residents of the city on the first day of March 2023.

Apparently, that is the same day Legislator Lema, and his family will be jetting into the country from Canada, after nearly four years in Exile.

Lema started flirting with his homecoming by posting a picture of packed suitcases on his Twitter account, indicating that the journey to Arusha was heating up.

The Northern Zone’s Secretary of the Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA), Amani Golugwa, reveals here that the former Arusha MP is expected to land at Kilimanjaro International Airport in the afternoon of March 1, 2023.

After being received at the terminal the CHADEMA frontman for Arusha City, will head straight to town.

Later, according to Golugwa, Lema will address a public rally in Arusha.

The venue for the said meeting is yet to be confirmed but that may either be at the central market area in the Bondeni ward, or at the Kimandolu grounds, the only open space left in the city.

Afterwards his party will organize series of public rallies in the Northern Regions of Arusha, Manyara and Kilimanjaro where the retuned politician will be addressing people.

Lema fled the country via Nairobi in November 2020 shortly after the General Elections whose results declared that the late John Pombe Magufuli won the presidential polls.

The controversial polls saw Lema losing the Arusha Urban Constituency to Mrisho Gambo of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).

A few hours later, Godbless Lema reportedly started receiving death threats and as they got more menacing, he was forced to flee from the country to Canada after brief stay in Nairobi, Kenya.
