The Lubumbashi Correspondent of the French International News Agency (AFP) in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lucien Kahozi is dead.
The scribe was reportedly killed by attacks from some rogue DRC Police on the last day of August 2024.
According to the deceased’s son, Maggelan Kahozi, the DRC Police attacked the journalist at one of the latter’s properties where he had gone to collect rent from one of his tenants.
It was reported that the late Lucien had gone to visit the tenant, reminding her that she was behind payment having defaulted to settle the rent for many months.
It seems the tenant had asked to be given up to August 25, 2024 to settle her arrears.
Kahozi decided to give her five more days before going round to the house and asking her to vacate the premises.
However, instead of complying, the woman allegedly screamed banshee summoning the police to the scene.
Upon reaching the house, the DRC Police instead of listening to the matter, simply started beating up Kahozi on forceful arresting procedure.
The journalist fell down and fainted due to what is being suspected to be nervous breakdown.
Seeing their victim lying in a heap of unconsciousness, the rogue cops fled from the scene.
Lucien Kahozi was then rushed to hospital afterwards but it was already too late and the doctors pronounced him dead.
The woman who screamed and attracted the police to the scene was arrested as an accomplice to the murder.
Until now the police officers who killed the AFP journalist have not yet been arrested or even found.
Neighbors believe that the woman may have had some intimate relations with the fled police officers.
