United Nations Truck ambushed in South Sudan

A supply Truck belonging to the United Nations has been Ambushed along the Juba-Mundri Road, in SDouth Sudan, an incident which left the Driver seriously Injured.

The Commissioner of Mundri West County in Western Equatoria State has said that a United Nations truck was ambushed on Monday along the Mundri–Juba Road, where the driver was attacked and hurt.

Zilpha Dawa explained that the United Nations vehicle traveling from Yambio to Juba came under attack on Monday afternoon between Lanyi and Doro areas.

The commissiner confirmed that the driver was injured during the incident, although the extent of the victim’s injuries remains unclear.

“The incident happened between Lanyi and Doro, in the area between Mundri East. It was a road attack, as we’ve seen before. While we know the general details and the information circulating on social media appears to be accurate, we are still working to establish exactly what happened,” she said.

“Sometimes, these attacks are blamed on armed groups in the bush, but later investigations reveal that criminals were actually responsible. So, we want to get the full picture before drawing conclusions.”

The Lanyi–Doro–Juba Road has seen several ambushes in recent months, targeting both public and private vehicles.

In a similar incident which occurred in July 2025, a passenger vehicle was ambushed near Lui, resulting in one woman killed and two men injured.

In another development, it is being reported that fresh clashes have erupted in South Sudan following incidents of Cattle Raid in Mayom.

Stories say some armed raiders, suspected to be from neighboring Warrap State, attacked Kueryiek village on Tuesday afternoon, stealing an undisclosed number of cattle and sparking clashes with local youth who gave chase.

Eyewitnesses report that heavy gunfire was exchanged as the pursuing group confronted the raiders. Fighting remains ongoing at the time of reporting, with no confirmed casualty figures.
